“ A hundred years from now A hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove… But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child" Forrest Witcraft
Our teachers have together over 30 years of experience of working with young children. Passion, commitment, unconditional love for children and the desire to make a difference in a child's journey are some traits common in our team. As a team, we work together to understand each and every child at By-The-Park. We also believe that to ensure that the children are receiving the best from us, we must be committed to continuously upgrade ourselves in this field. |

We provide a warm and enriching environment for children to grow and learn, explore and develop. Classrooms are arranged to offer challenging play and learning choices at different developmental levels. Activity areas allow children the opportunity to explore, experience and succeed in autonomy and group interactions. Our spacious outdoor area encourages our children to enjoy nature and have many opportunities to be involved in outdoor activities. We believe that the outdoor component is important in a child's development as many valuable lessons are learnt while engaged in the outdoors. |

We strongly believe that parents are the most significant adults in a child's life and that children enjoy having their parents as an important part of their school world. We encourage positive daily communication between parents and teachers all to the benefit of our children. Our doors are open to parents at all times.

"Assessment information should be used to make school experience and life better for children. Assessment procedures should not threaten children's psychological safety nor violate their physical needs" Bredekamp and Rosegrant. R
At By-The-Park, our educators make use of different tools of assessment which helps us to observe children's progress, plan challenges for them and evaluate their progress. Such information helps parents understand their children's progress in school and also helps the school evaluate its curriculum and teaching methods.
· Observations - anecdotal, running records and checklist · Emails and photographs - Parents are kept updated either daily or weekly on their children’s progress and development · Portfolio - each child has a portfolio which includes written observations, photos and original works that represents the child's thought processes which reflect specific areas such as language and literacy, play development, and math etc. The purpose of a portfolio is to show the child’s progress, to improve instruction, and develop a plan to improve the child’s development. In addition, the portfolios give children the opportunity to see their own progress · Peer evaluation among teachers · Interview with parents |
